Arniston Rangers’ boss Jock Landells applauded an all round team performance last Saturday against a feisty Larkhall at Newbyres Park.
Following the 2-2 draw at Larkhall the week before Arniston looked to get in front in the replay and it was in 23 minutes when they opened the scoring through Darren Leslie, netting from 15 yards. Though just seven minutes later he had to be taken off suffering concussion following a head blow to be substituted by Kevin Moffat.
It continued to be a hard fought encounter for the rest of that first half but Arniston took the break leading by that solitary goal.
The second half was only two minutes old however when Arniston went 2-0 up through Danny McFadden, a major strike for the Arnie, their 28th goal of the season in this their 15th game.
The match proved to be rather rough at times and inevitably in 70 minutes a second yellow to the Thistle left back, though it could have been a straight red, saw Larkhall reduced to 10 men making a controversial exit.
The visitors continued to battle away however and in 80 minutes Arniston were reduced to 10 men for a second yellow given to David Jeffrey.
Larkhall were to make Arniston fight all the way to the finishing line in a nailbiting ending seeing Thistle make it 2-1 in the 89th minute.
But at 90 +1 Arniston brought on substitute Danny Thomson who became the Arnie hero netting the third goal in the sixth minute of injury time as the referee even played a further minute after that. But in the end an excellent win for Arniston who will again feature at Newbyres Park this coming Saturday (2pm) to entertain Forfar West End in a serious battle for Premier League points.
