Three Midlothian Junior footballers will pull on the dark blue of Scotland this week while a fourth has had to withdraw due to illness.
Bonnyrigg Rose’s Kris Renton and Ross Archibald, and Newtongrange Star’s Paul Tansey and Sean Jamieson were chosen for the Scotland Junior side taking part in the Umbro Quadrangular Tournament in Limerick from October 3-6.
However, defender Ross Archibald has since had to pull out of the contest, which will see Scotland take on their counterparts from Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland.
Newtongrange Star manager Alan Miller is delighted with the call-ups, which he believes is testament to the progress the club is making.
Bonnyrigg Rose manager Max Christie was happy to see his players receive this recognition but was sad that Ross missed out.
Due to the call-up of striker Renton, Bonnyrigg will not play this weekend and will instead play their cup replay at Bo’ness United on October 12.
Newtongrange, however, have vowed to fulfil Saturday’s fixture at Carnoustie despite missing midfielders Tansey and Jamieson.
