Pumpherston were the visitors to Penicuik Park on Saturday for this Fife and Lothians Cup third round tie.

In the 21st minute Penicuik opened the scoring. Neil Jancyzk played a great diagonal pass to Michael McDermott, who crossed the ball to the back post where Grant Killin headed the ball down for Ryan Gay to hammer the ball into the Pumpherston net.

In their next attack, Patterson’s powerful shot was headed over the bar by a defender. From the corner, Ryan McCallum got his head to the ball but it hit the top of the crossbar and went over for a goal kick.

Next, a header by Ryan Gay looked netbound but goalkeeper Hunter somehow managed to get a hand to the ball to hook it away.

Then Patterson was set free one on one with Hunter and as he rounded the ’keeper he was taken down right on the edge of the box. But Gay’s free kick sailed over the bar.
