Glasgow 2014: Midlothian competitors have that winning feeling on day two

Midlothian’s sports starts kept up their winning ways at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow today.

Danderhall’s Davie Peacock was part of Scotland’s triples team in the lawn bowls which won not once but twice today at Kelvingrove. While Aileen Davis from Bonnyrigg was part of Scotland’s hockey team which saw off Malaysia at Glasgow Green.

Peacock and his teammates Neil Spiers and Darren Burnett comfortably saw off Niue Island 32-6 before going on to defeat Namibia 24-18 in their section A matches, making it three wins out of three for the Scots. They face Wales tomorrow in their final pool game, with the medals finals taking place on Monday morning.

Meanwhile in the hockey Davis and her Scotland teammates saw off a stubborn defensive display from Malaysia, winning 2-0 in their first group match. They are still to face Australia on Sunday, Wales on Monday and England on Wednesday in Pool B.
