While Davie Peacock might have brought home the only Glasgow 2014 medal to Midlothian there was other local success stories.

Lasswade AC athlete Guy Learmonth ran a personal best of 1:46:69 to take sixth place in the men’s 800m final.

Kenyan superstar David Rudisha was favourite to win gold but had to settle for silver as Botswana’s Nigel Amos stormed across the finish line. Guy was in last place coming into the final straight but put on a turn of speed to finish a fantastic sixth.

It didn’t stop there for Guy as he and fellow Lasswade athlete Greg Louden from Dalkeith finished an impressive fifth in the men’s 4x400m relay final.

Elsewhere, Bonnyrigg’s Aileen Davis was part of Scotland’s hockey team which finished in sixth place after India beat them 2-1 in a play-off.
