Danderhall bowler David Peacock will be going for gold today (Friday, August 1).

David and his men’s fours team-mates will be competing in the final against England at 12.45pm.

The Scots battled through horrendous rain last night to beat the Australians 15-10 in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Lasswade AC athlete Guy Learmonth ran a personal best of 1:46:69 to take sixth place in the men’s 800m final.

Kenyan superstar David Rudisha was favourite to win gold but had to settle for silver as Botswana’s Nigel Amos stormed across the finish line. Guy was in last place coming into the final straight but put on a turn of speed to finish a fantastic sixth.

Afterwards Guy posted on Facebook: “Unbelievable and unforgettable race to be apart of and to witness! Thank you all for the support you have been amazing through everything!”

Bonnyrigg’s Aileen Davis will be in hockey action this morning when Scotland take on India in the fifth/sixth place play-off at 10am.

Tonight, Guy and fellow Lasswade athlete Greg Louden will be on the track for the heats of the men’s 4x400m relay.
