The curtain finally came down on the 2012 /2013 East Region junior football season this week with the grand final of the East of Scotland Cup between Super League champions Linlithgow Rose and runners-up Bonnyrigg Rose at Bathgate on Wednesday evening this week.
Bonnyrigg had beaten Jeanfield Swifts 2-0 in their semi-final at New Dundas Park, Bonnyrigg, while Scottish Cup runners-up Linlithgow had put out hosts Newtongrange Star 4-1 at New Victoria Park in their tie.
Last Saturday’s dramatic finish to the East South Division campaign saw the promotion race for the fourth place go right to the wire.
Arniston Rangers away at West Calder United scrambled home the only goal of a nervy game in 93 minutes, claiming all three points to grab the fourth and final promotion place on 52 points, just one point ahead of Haddington Athletic.
