ACCOUNTANT John Campbell is praying for better weather to get his hobby back on track.
John, by day runs a business in Dalkeith and Dunbar. At night, he is co-promoter of Edinburgh Monarchs, who have been Premier League champions three times in recent years.
This season has been a nightmare for John, who has managed to keep the 64-year-old club going despite the recession.
However, this has been the worst season in the club’s history for postponed meetings. They are currently bottom of the table, but have only raced a handful of matches.
And John expects Monarchs to climb the rankings providing they get dry Friday nights.
Campbell, who became co-promoter in 1982, said: “We were able to run on only two of eight Fridays and we’ve never had such a bad run. That’s disappointing, as we need the fans to come through the turnstiles on a regular basis to keep us going.”
