Former Ajax and Porto star Benni McCarthy (pictured above) lined-up for Whitehill Welfare for a one-off game on Sunday, scoring in a 5-3 loss to Hamilton Under 20s.
He helped the Rosewell side lead their opponents 3-1 at the break before being substituted. Hamilton then took advantage of the legend’s withdrawal to come back and win the entertaining friendly match.
The former South African international, now 36, is the brother-in-law of one of the Whitehill players and is not expected to sign on at Ferguson Park.
