Full field for Carnethy Hill Race
carnethy hill race
The 600 places for the Carnethy Five Hill Race were filled within an hour of the race entries opening – such is the popularity of this winter run over the Pentland Hills.
An impressive 95 runners from the organising, Carnethy Hill Running Club, have entered, but many have come from further afield, with entries from places such as Northern Ireland, Wales, Finland and Johannesburg.
The entrants also include more than 140 women, and runners with ages ranging from 18-year-old Adam Harris of Fife AC, the youngest in the race, to 78-year-old Bill Gauld of Carnethy Hill Running Club, who is running the race for the 24th time.
That tally is bettered by Lochaber’s Jimmy Jardine (68), who has entered what will be his 42nd consecutive Carnethy Hill Race. It was Jimmy, who originally came up with the idea for the race when he was living in the area all those years ago.
