The home side made a great start, pressuring the visitors in their 22 and after a devastating scrum gave Dalkeith a penalty, the ball was taken on by Reid who crashed through the defence and over for the opening score, converted by Clugston.
Prop Young made a great charge towards the visitors’ line before offloading to Reid, who then miss-timed his pass to Simpson, but the winger did well to recover and dart in for Dalkeith’s second score.
With the Dalkeith forwards in the ascendancy, the home side looked to be controlling the match, but Gala showed what they could be capable of. Textbook handling and pace from the back division released their winger for the score, and the conversion was good.
