Penicuik will have to keep the champagne on ice for now after their game against Jeanfield was abandoned due to poor weather conditions.

Cuikie went into the game knowing a win against the Perth side would earn them promotion, and avenge the loss to Jeanfield they suffered earlier in the season.

In the game’s opening minute McCulloch was able to get his head onto the end of a cross into the box, but his effort went just over the bar.

One minute later, McPartlin won the ball just inside the Swifts half, drove forward, and unleashed a fierce shot, but he too saw his effort sail high over the bar.

Minutes later, a great driving run by Ross through the Jeanfield midfield was foiled by a great tackle by Anton just as Ross was about to shoot. From the corner, McCulloch again got in a header, but keeper Bruce punched the ball clear.

At this point it seemed as though Cuikie could rack up a cricket score, but Jeanfield fought back to their credit.

Mackie sent over a dangerous cross into the Penicuik six yard box where McDermott got a boot to the ball to clear for a corner kick.
