Bob Foley, the head of PE at Newbattle Community High School, was runner-up in the Sky Sports Living For Sport Teacher of the Year Awards.

He received a trophy and a cheque for £750 from former Olympic sprinter Darren Campbell – pictured – during a ceremony at Wembley Stadium last week.

The cash will be used in the school’s Living For Sport project, allowing third-year pupils to work with local primary schools during the Olympic torch’s trip through Midlothian and the staging of a mini Olympics on Newbattle’s playing fields.
