Penicuik High School pupils Rachel Law and Heather Reid achieved further cup success recently with their club side Murray field Wanderers.

They helped their team win the recent Scottish National Open girls under 15 seven-a-side rugby championship.

The girls both made a significant contribution to their team’s success by putting their attacking and defensive skills to good use throughout the tournament and by running in the bulk of Wanderers tries through some intelligent, strong running and support play.

Captaining the team, Rachel led her side to victories over Ayr/Cumnock (20-5), Biggar (15-5) and Royal High Cougars (35-5) to lift the trophy.

The girls are looking forward to this season’s Brewin Dolphin Scottish Cup competition after last season’s cup final medal winning performance at Murrayfield.

While Rachel was playing at the sevens tournament her big sister Sarah Law, former head girl at Penicuik High and Scotland women’s rugby international, was playing for Scotland women against the Irish Exiles at Murrayfield.
