RUGBY: Lasswade work hard to stay top

Lasswade 48 Ellon 12

THIS was Ellon's first visit to Hawthornden but their second encounter with Lasswade, having lost at home in the quarter finals of the Shield back in March.

They later came third in National League 1 and, although they were a bit adrift of the two promoted sides, are a better measure of what to expect in this division.

With Ellon kicking off with only a light Rosewell breeze at their backs, both sides came out of the blocks at speed with the visitors having most of the territory.

With a points difference of 86 and bonus points from just their opening two games Lasswade are early league leaders ahead of Greenock Wanderers.

They will hope to continue in this form in their second Ayrshire visit at Garnock this Saturday.
