RUGBY: Lasswade secure promotion in style

Lasswade 74 Hawick YM 0

In front of an enthusiastic crowd of some 500 supporters, Lasswade secured their runners up spot and promotion to National League One in emphatic fashion, totally demolishing Hawick YM in a 12-try display of uncompromising rugby.

Playing effectively out of season, safe from relegation and with the start of their Common Riding back in Hawick, this was undoubtedly a much weakened Borders side but their hosts showed them little mercy.

Tries: Borthwick (2), Quigley, Sharp, Gray, Hennessey, Billingham, Roberston, Turnbull, Hearn, Cook, McGregor

Conversions: McWilliam (6), Borthwick.

Man of the match: Bernie Hennessey.

President Ian Barr was naturally delighted to achieve the main objective of the season on top of the National Shield.
