Medal haul for Midlothian athletes

Young Midlothian athletes returned from the National Age Group Athletics, Glasgow, with six medals between them.

Lasswade Athletics Club’s top young track and field athletes were in action at the Scotstoun Stadium.

The medal winners in the U-16 girls’ age group were Ellen Kristoffersen, who took gold in the high jump (1.60m) and the long jump (5.08m); Katie Purves, gold in the 80m hurdles (12.05s); and Rachel Robertson, who collected the bronze medal in the long jump (4.98m).

In the U-18 events, Robert Ferguson took the silver medal in the men’s high jump, with Katherine Szymanski collecting the bronze in the women’s triple jump.

Results for the club’s other athletes are: Ellen Kristoffersen, U-16 girls’ 80m hurdles, sixth (13.28s); Sophie Collins, U-16 girls’ 1500m, sixth (5:12.57); Erin Feeley, U-16 girls’ discus, sixth (23.41m); Sophie Elder, U-18 women’s 300m, fifth (42.61s); Amy Smith, U-18 Women’s 800m, seventh (2.29.54); Jordan Charters, U-18 men’s 100m, seventh (11.74s), 200m, eighth (24.21s).
