Midlothian bowlers lift crown

Midlothian Ladies have won the Scottish Ladies League Final for the third year running.

All four rinks played as a team to finally overcome a very good East Fife team by 84 shots to 69.

Shona Johnstone and Sandra McLeish went down to narrow defeats while Carol Ashby produced a 5 at the last end to win by 4 and Gaynor Blair stood out as the top skip in winning by 18 shots.

The hat-trick of indoor premier league titles is even more sweeter as it came just a week after losing to the team from Methil in the Scottish Cup.

“It was a major challenge for us to try and bounce back from such a recent defeat but our motivational team talk on the bus taking us through to the final worked wonders as our team ethic and team spirit were both exceptional on the day,” said team captain Shona Johnstone.
