The formula II World Championship qualifying round at the Racewall on Saturday was held in dry conditions, and as a result, the racing was fast and at times furious.
Making a surprise visit, using the Burgoyne car, was John Mickel, who has raced in NASCAR in the USA, but was back in a formula II after a gap of around 15 years.
The only local driver was Craig Wallace (Tranent).
There was a good turn out of saloon drivers for the meeting with locals in action being Gordon Alexander (Bonnyrigg), Stuart Drobinski (Tranent) and Robin Copland (Gorebridge).
The ministox action was as usual fast and furious, with only one local – Arran Riddell (Penicuik).
This Saturday, the formula IIs are joined by the saloons, minis and 2-litre bangers. The formula IIs have a white/yellow challenge round, and the minis the third round for the Disco trophy, with the meeting starting at 6pm.
