Midlothian Junior Football is buzzing in anticipation of this coming weekend’s top Emirates Scottish Junior Cup second round ties, with all five local clubs in action.
The ultimate clash is at New Victoria Park, where Newtongrange Star entertain Bonnyrigg Rose in a gigantic “match of the day” tie.
Last season in the Super League, then Rose boss Alan Miller saw off Graeme Armstrong’s Star 3-2 at Bonnyrigg, but then a Paul Forbes strike in the return match in April saw Star win 1-0.
Now Alan Miller, in charge at Newtongrange, faces his stiffest challenge yet against high-flying Super League’s current No1, Max Christie’s Bonnyrigg Rose.
Nearby, improving neighbours Arniston Rangers appear to have turned a corner, but will be at home for a tough test against Aberdeenshire’s Banchory St Ternan’s.
Challenging away ties face Penicuik Athletic and Dalkeith Thistle. Athletic travel to meet Central District League Division 1’s Glasgow Perthshire while Dalkeith Thistle visit Ayrshire’s Whitlett Vics.
