MIDLOTHIAN’S current Scottish Junior Cup contestants, Bonnyrigg Rose and Arniston Rangers, both won their respective games on Saturday as the Junior Football season resumed for nearly all clubs after the festive break.

This Saturday, the Rose aim for the top with a Super League away match at St Andrews, while Premier League Arniston face Sauchie.

In the fourth round of the Cup next weekend, Sauchie are at home to Super League champions Bo’ness United, while Bonnyrigg host Maybole and Arniston go to Largs.

Super League second top Bonnyrigg beat Kelty Hearts 2-1 at New Dundas Park last Saturday in the top division, and the Rose can go one better this weekend if they can win at St Andrews.

Arniston Rangers had a dramatic 7-6 penalty shoot-out win over hosts Crossgates Primrose on Saturday. Arniston finished the last nail-biting 10 minutes at 1-1 after Mark Stevenson was red-carded.
