Scottish Cup contestants Bonnyrigg Rose were expected to head for Berwick Rangers for a friendly match earlier this week in an attempt to keep in trim after the weekend’s weather again put paid to their Fife and Lothians Cup tie against Glenrothes.
That second round cup tie has been rescheduled for this Saturday, but the Rose will also have one eye on the following weekend’s trip to Glasgow’s Ashfield in the fifth round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup.
Standing between the Rose and a place in the quarter-finals are Ashfield, who have played in all four rounds of the Scottish Cup so far.
Their journey began in the first round, when they won 6-1 away at Banks o’ Dee, followed by another away victory at East Super League’s Bathgate Thistle, where the Ashfield men won 2-1. Bonnyrigg drew 2-2 in their Super League visit to Creamery Park.
Ashfield needed two games in round three, being firstly held 1-1 at home by Whitletts Vics, before going on to win the replay by 2-0 at Whitletts.
