Leisure charges imposed by Midlothian Council are to increase from August 1.
The cost of hiring pitches, halls and pavilions, Vogrie Golf Course charges and Tonezone memberships will all be increased - with some of the increases being capped at 50 per cent.
Earlier this year the local authority carried out a consultation of its sports and leisure services, which included a benchmark exercise. This compared Midlothian’s charges with those levied by neighbouring authorities.
At last week’s full council meeting, members agreed to a four per cent rise in Tonezone membership costs from April next year. In the meantime, users will be encouraged to switch to a direct debit package while charges remain the same.
