The strong links between an English football club, the Scottish league and Midlothian are highlighted in a new book.

The Lone Rangers, written by Tom Maxwell, a former journalist on the Advertiser, uncovers some of the history of Berwick Rangers, the only English football team in the Scottish League set up.

The book is officially launched next week.

Tom, who lives in Eskbank with fiancee Jenna Raffaelli (26), is a lifelong Berwick fan.

He first started work on the book while a reporter in Dalkeith, but as his career took off, he could not devote sufficient time to his labour of love.

It was after he sounded out a few people in the book industry, he realised there would be interest in a book on Berwick Rangers and he made sure he made the time to complete the work.
