It was a golden final weekend of the indoor track and field season for Lasswade Athletics Club’s young athletes as they amassed four gold, two silver and a bronze at the Scottish Age Group Championships.
On the first day of the event at the Emirates Commonwealth Arena, Glasgow, Ellen Kristoffersen set the ball rolling by winning the U18 women’s long jump (5.41m).More gold followed from Katie Purves in a 60m hurdles comeback (8.89s), Jordan Charters, U20 men’s long jump (6.48m), and Robert Ferguson U20 men’s high jump (1.95m).
There was further success in the U18 women’s age group as Ellen took silver in the high jump (1.65m), and Rachel Robertson bronze in the triple jump (10.73m). Rachel also finished fourth in the long jump (5.20m). Sophie Elder finished sixth in the U20 women’s 400m final (63.10), and Jordan Charters finished second in his 200m heat (23.78s). Continuing the success at the match on Sunday, Henry Clarkson won silver in the U16 boys’ triple jump with a PB of 10.99m, and also finished sixth in the long jump (5.07m).
