Dalkeith’s Stacey Laidlaw was part of the victorious Scotland team at the recent Bowls World Junior Championships in Australia.
A well prepared Scotland bowls team arrived back from the 2014 World Junior Championships at Broadbeach in Queensland with an impressive seven out of a possible eight medals.
Midlothian’s Stacey Laidlaw picked up two medals, a bronze in the singles and a silver in the mixed pairs.
As well as overcoming her opponents, Stacey also had to take on the searing heat in Queensland.
She said: “I’m very happy to win two medals and long may it continue, given that I’m going to be 25 next April, so I’ve got one more chance at the junior Worlds hopefully next March if I get selected.
“It was hard because you’ve got the wind and the heat to adjust to. It was getting up to 37 degrees, which was absolutely roasting but I really enjoyed it. It was a lot easier to adapt than we thought having had all the experience on the indoor carpets. The preparation made a big difference, particularly the team bonding part.”
