Snow tubing runs will open on Friday (December 20) afternoon at Midlothian Snowsports Centre at Hillend, the final piece of £600,000 of improvements.
People aged eight and over can take part in the new attraction, throwing themselves down the specially-created slopes in giant rubber rings.
Councillor Derek Rosie (SNP), cabinet member for sport and leisure, said: “Just watching people snow tubing is enough to bring a smile to my face. It looks fantastic fun and is a great way to spend some quality time at this time of year with your loved-ones.
“I can imagine this attraction is going to be a huge hit with most age groups – and what a great idea for a hen or stag party with a difference.”
Having slid down the slope in a giant rubber ‘doughnut’, you don’t even have to climb to the top again – all the hard work is done for you thanks to a travellator.
The snow tubing is the last part of renovation work at the Centre, which has also seen: an additional 210 metre slope on the hill, 60 metres of new nursery slope, extension and improvement work to existing nursery slopes and the installation of new travellator uplift systems.
