Dalkeith High School skiers excelled at the recent Scottish Schools Ski Championships at Hillend.

It meant they qualified for this weekend’s British Schools’ Ski Championships in Wales.

Competing among more than 180 racers on September 30, Dalkeith pupils skied their best and put down good runs with no crashes. Both teams achieved third place in their category.

There were top 10 individual finishes from Ellie Street (9th), Claire Winthrop (8th), Michael Fitzpatrick (8th) and Alasdair Cameron (2nd).

Headteacher Colin Gerrie said: “I am extremely proud of what our youngsters have achieved. They have excelled in finishing third in Scotland in both team categories.”
