The latest instalment in Dalkeith’s League 2 campaign was a fixture against Earlston RFC at King’s Park.
Things began well for the visitors as they were awarded a penalty deep in the Dalkeith half, which was duly kicked for a 0-3 advantage.
Dalkeith accepted a loose kick through from Earlston and after some tidying up of the ball by Reid, Clugston shipped the ball wide on his 22 before Paton came into the line at pace, making 50m up field before defensive cover got to him, however the evergreen Smith was at hand in support and accepted the scoring pass for the try out wide, 5-3. From the restart Dalkeith immediately gave up a headscratcher of a penalty in their 22m, but Earlston happily grabbed the chance to take the lead with the kick for goal, 5-6.
And from then on Dalkeith continued to add to their points tally.
