Dalkeith’s Alannah Lawrie has won the British schools dry ski championship at Hillend, continuing her remarkable rise in the sport.
The 15-year-old competed against the best school skiers from the UK up to the age of 19 to become British champion. Her mum Hannah was delighted with Alannah’s success on her “home” slope.
She said: “Alannah has been coming forward for many years now. She is in the Scotland team now and things are looking good for her. I’m very proud.
“This is definitely her biggest achievement on dry slopes, and getting into the Scotland team earlier this year was great too.
“There was some hard competition out there [at Hillend]. To be first out of all those girls was a great achievement.
“She was over the moon. It’s still sinking in.”
