Midlothian long distance runner Freya Ross is due to start training again after suffering a stress fracture in her foot at the turn of the year.

Ross was forced to pull out of the British team for the recent Bupa Great Edinburgh cross-country in Holyrood Park after doctors ordered her to rest for at least three weeks.

The 30-year-old from Temple will soon be back in training for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, hoping her latest injury setback will not have caused too much damage to her medal hopes this summer.

Ross represented Scotland in the 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
