Golf- Midlothian youngsters shine at Melville

Over 80 junior golfers from across Edinburgh and the Lothians make a weekly trip to Melville Golf Centre to work with PGA Professional Graham Mackay as part of the long standing junior academy which has been developed over more than two decades.

Some of the latest crop of juniors were rewarded for their hard work in recent competitions after a successful summer of golf. Daniel Elliott who has progressed to the senior academy team at just 11 years old has recorded a trio of successes against junior golfers from across the East of Scotland in the Stephen Gallacher Foundation, winning one and finishing second and third in successive events.

Whilst local girl Hannah Darling (9), who began her golf career in the Melville Junior Academy before progressing to regional and national coaching, encountered much older and more experienced opposition on her way to a string of successful wins in the Midlothian Girls Championship, Broomieknowe Ladies Championship and numerous mixed double successes in the region alongside her father.
