Lasswade Gymnastics Club will have an incredible five gymnasts representing Scotland at the British National Elite Grand Finals next month.
At the recent Artistic Scottish Regional Qualifying competition, the club had five gymnasts qualifying for the 12-strong Scotland team at the British National Elite Grade Finals, being held in Birmingham on November 8/9.
Robby Bain, Peter Ritch and Cameron Smith were second, third and fifth in National Elite Grade Level 1 (aged eight on 1/1/14). Together they won team gold.
At National Elite Grade Level 3 (aged 10 on 1/1/14)) Khuzaymah Saddique and Rory Smith were first and second, separated by 0.1 of a point.
Stella Smith of Lasswade Gymnastics Club’s parent committee, believes this success is down to a new coach and the club’s improved facilities at the new Lasswade Centre.
She said: “To have so many selected for the Scotland team is a great achievement.
“There is not many clubs in Scotland that have had that type of representation, if any.”
