The Championship leaders were caught out by Paton’s hard charging ride after he missed the first round of the BSB at Brands Hatch in April due to a clash of dates with the Scottish Championships at East Fortune, and an unassuming midfield place in the second round at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

Riding his privateer Yamaha 600, he denied championship front runner Ben Padgett the wins following a nail-biting contest, with Ben riding the ultra quick Padgetts Honda 600.
