Midlothian-based Melville Motor Club hosts the penultimate round of the Scottish ACU Motorcycle Racing Championship at East Fortune this weekend.
The finale of the busy two-day meeting will be East Fortune’s longest race of the year, for Saturday’s fastest 36 riders, the Steve Hislop Trophy race, held annually in memory of one of Scotland’s greatest motorbike racers.
Hislop began his racing career at East Fortune and later became Scottish and British Champion and multiple Isle of Man TT winner.
He was tragically killed in a helicopter crash 11 years ago, very close to his home town of Hawick in the Scottish Borders.
Hopefully the weather will be better than it was for the August meeting when high winds caused the Saturday afternoon and Sunday racing to be abandoned as it was deemed too dangerous.
