Midlothian teenage driver Colin Noble Junior has secured his first podium place in this year’s Protyre Formula Renault Championship.

Colin, who’s the reigning champion of last season’s Radical SR1 Cup, came a well earned second to championship leader and teammate Pietro Fittipaldi in round six of the second meeting of the championship held at Donington Park National Circuit, Leicestershire recently.

Colin lost out by an agonizing 0.9 of a second having previously missed pole position by an even smaller margin of 0.075 of a second.

Commenting on his second place at Donington Park, Colin said: “It was a good team performance with Pietro getting the win and me finishing second. We got up to P1 at the start and Pietro’s car came on a few laps before ours.

“Once my car came on we drew him back in, but the gap then stayed the same and I wasn’t close enough to make the move. We’re very pleased with the way this weekend has gone, I’m really happy.”
