Midlothian marathon runner Freya Ross has had to pull out of the upcoming Commonwealth Games due to a hip injury.

The 30-year-old from Temple, who was the first placed Briton in the 2012 London Olympics marathon, has struggled with a number of injuries in recent years and will be disappointed to have missed the big event in Glasgow, with many tipping her to be among the medal prospects in her event.
