It has been a busy week for the Midlothian Young Bowlers Association, with the last qualifying places for the National Finals at Ayr on 27th July being played for.

The pairs competition held at Penicuik Bowling Club had an all-Easthouses Bowling Club final. Ellie Borthwick and Stephen Charters were the eventual winners after a great day’s bowling.

Jack Macnab, Paul Innes & Lewis Deveney (Polton Bowling Club) beat Connor McBeth, Emma McKay & Conor Keith (Penicuik Bowling Club) in a close-fought triples final. The Polton Bowling Club trio did well to recover from losing their first game of the day, at the round-robin stage. So the winners now go off to Ayr, and will hopefully bring some silverware back home with them.

The Penicuik triple have the consolation of representing their county Midlothian in the Scottish Counties Cup.
