Newtongrange boxer Stephen Tiffney won his first professional fight on Saturday night, at Meadowbank in Edinburgh.
With just over one minute to go in the opening round, the 26-year-old pinned his Lithuanian opponent Aivaras Balsys into a corner and dropped him with some right hooks to the body followed by a left uppercut, forcing the referee to wave the fight off.
Speaking to the Advertiser, the featherweight said: “It was great. An amazing night. It was sold out, around 1,300 tickets. So the atmosphere was really good. I will never forget it. I just want to thank the people that came. I had quite a lot of support. And of course thank you to my sponsors too.”
His next fight is on December 5 at Meadowbank.
