Penicuik Cricket Club’s 2nd XI have finished the 2014 season on a high – winning East of Scotland’s Division 5 with an almost perfect record.

The Stuart & Stuart sponsored side lost their first game against Drummond Trinity 2 but then went on to win the remaining 12 matches.

In Penicuik 2’s final match they were away to Glenrothes 2 and posted a total of 166 with top scores from Cammy Crawford (67) and young Numan Hafiz (63). However, the game was a washout with no reply from the home side.

Club secretary Stewart Davidson said: “This did not dampen spirit as the Div 5 title was already ours. This has been a tremendous achievement after losing the opening game they have remained undefeated.”
