Rugby: Lasswade game a tale of two halves

Lasswade 15

Murrayfield Wanderers 27

Lasswade needed a five point win from this one if they were to improve their placing in the table from sixth to fifth or even fourth where Murrayfield had been tenants since Christmas.

For Murrayfield, this was their last game and their only chance to hold on to their position.

With the thermometer hovering around zero and a significant windchill factor, the pitch was remarkably playable.

Not for the first time this season, Lasswade took a little while to get organised and, as it turned out, lost this game in the first 40 minutes.

Lasswade’s next and final league fixture is on April 6, when Hawick YM come to Hawthornden. Kick-off is at 3pm.
