Gareth Fleming (15) hit the headlines in the Advertiser last year when he helped save the life of a pensioner who had collapsed at a bus stop.
The paperboy used the first aid skills he learned as a volunteer lifeguard at Newbattle Swimming Pool to treat Alex Philip (79) who had collapsed in Main Street, Newtongrange, in April.
Meanwhile, the Newtongrange teenager has been busy on the track, recently representing Scottish Schools in an International Pentathlon at the new Commonwealth Stadium in Glasgow, as well as competing for the full Scotland under 18 athletics team in the javelin.
