S2 rugby derby is close contest

Lasswade 18, Dalkeith 19

Dalkeith 19

Lasswade S2s played their near neighbours, Dalkeith S2s, at Hawthornden on Sunday.

The home side were six regular players short thanks to a combination of circumstances, and only managed to field 15 players with the help of two S1 players – Gavin Innes and Chris Kay.

Lasswade kicked off to start the game, but Dalkeith weren’t long in taking the ball and driving on into Lasswade’s half, until Matthew Duffy put in a great tackle allowing Lasswade to win possession.

Matthew Black got the ball to Oscar Malone who did well to hold on and not allow Dalkeith to steal it away.

Eventually, Lasswade won a scrum. Scrum-half Martin Jones got the ball to Malone who kicked it up the park for Cameron McVicar to chase and collect.

Dalkeith turned over but knocked on, allowing Lasswade another scrum.
