Seven-year-old Liam Flynn from Dalkeith recently became the Scottish under-eight kickboxing champion picking up two gold medals.

The King’s Park Primary pupil was competing in the WKA Scottish Championship at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, where he won three fights to claim the title.

His proud dad Mark said: “He won two golds, for both points scored and rounds won. It’s magnificent.

“I didn’t expect him to get the Scottish title. This was his first big tournament and he rose to the occasion.

“There were 600 people there. It was a massive
competition.”

Liam won the two-round final in the first round as he was ten points in front so could not be caught, finishing with a jumping head kick to win 13-3.

His win has also made him eligible to represent Scotland at the 2015 World Championships in October, but his dad is unsure if he will be able to compete.
