NEWBATTLE Community High School was represented at the recent meeting of London 2012 organisers LOCOG, on “a great day” for the school.

Speeches were led by Sebastian Coe at the event last week hosted by former triple-jumper Jonathan Edwards, with Newbattle High Head of P.E. Bob Foley giving a ten minute speech about the school promoting Olympic values, to an audience which included many of Britain’s gold medal winners, including boxer Nicola Adams.

Mr Foley revealed more about the event and thanked his staff: “I was representing the East of Scotland. You were allowed 10 minutes exactly, with someone counting you down so you finished right on time.

“Each speaker had to say how their school had used (London 2012 scheme) ‘Get Set Go’ to change the lives of the pupils. It was difficult to get all that into just ten minutes! It has inspired so many local kids.

“I think it went down well,”
