Two Newbattle High School teachers heading to South Africa to teach PE and dance have been touched by the generosity of Midlothian companies, school staff and pupils.

As part of a British Council scheme, PE teachers Bob Foley and Suzi Fegen will head to their sister school Khanya Lesedi High School near Johanesburg in May, to give dance and PE lessons to the 1,200 pupils there.

With them they will take the proceeds they make from selling London 2012 Adidas bags and umbrellas given to Newbattle High by Olympic organisers LOCOG. The school has been selling these at £1 each to buy PE equipment and a stereo.

If anyone would still like to buy Olympic bags or umbrellas, Newbattle still have stock at £1 each, all proceeds go to Khanya Lesedi High School. Contact Mr Foley at the school.
