Star completed their pre-season preparations with a convincing win in Glasgow last Saturday against Shettleston Juniors.

Captain Blair Tolmie opened the scoring early on after good work by fellow central defender David Dunn, before a quickfire double by Alistair Forster and a penalty by Gary Cherrie had Star coasting on the half hour.

The hosts pulled a goal back shortly before the break.

Paul Tansey added a fifth goal for Star shortly after the break, heading home from close range after a powerful drive by Craig O’Reilly was pushed out by the goalkeeper. Gary Cherrie completed the scoring late on, nodding home a Scott Gibson flick to make the final score 6-1 to Star.
