Have you achieved outstanding success in your chosen sport? Then you could be one of the lucky winners of this year’s Midlothian Sports Awards.

Nominations are now open for the awards to honour our local sporting superstars.

Provost Joe Wallace said: “We have a wealth of sports enthusiasts here in Midlothian so get nominating if you know someone who has achieved outstanding success to give them the recognition they deserve.”

Those lucky enough to take home a trophy this year will be joining a long list of winners including last year’s senior sports personality, the swimmer, Michelle Moran, and junior sports personality, Dana Purves, who is a karate star.

This year’s ceremony is due to take place at the Lasswade Centre on Friday 30 October.

The provost added: “I always thoroughly enjoy presenting the prizes at the awards as it’s a fantastic opportunity to hear about our sporting excellence. “

Nominations close on August 8.

Local people can vote for their favourite sports personality in the following categories: Junior Sports Personality (under 18); Senior Sports Personality (over 18); Junior Team Award; Senior Team Award; Coach of the Year; Service to Local Sport;Volunteer of the Year.
