Olympic rower to visit Lasswade school

Pupils at Lasswade High School will be treated to an insight into the life and work of Olympian and double world champion Sarah Winckless on Monday.

Sarah agreed to speak following an invitation from Midlothian Council’s sport and leisure department.

The former British rower won a bronze medal in the double sculls at Athens in 2004 and was twice world champion, in 2005 and 2006.

She has recently been appointed by the BOA (British Olympic Association) as chair of the Athlete Commission.

Sarah, who retired from rowing in 2009, is now a life coach and inspirational speaker.
