Lasswade 31, Ardrossan Academicals 12
Ardrossan came third in this division last year and sixth the year before and should be a prime Premier 3 contender but this year have had a nightmare start of one win from four including a home defeat last week by an up-till-then winless Haddington.
With Lasswade’s mirror-image opening record and also at home, this result ran completely with the formbook though some may have wanted an even bigger winning margin.
Playing conditions underfoot and overhead were near perfect apart from the almost inevitable wind from Rosewell, which gusted strongly enough to be influential as Lasswade kicked off with it at their backs.
With the forwards and backs working well together, the hosts did not have much need for the wind to keep Accies pinned in their own 22. Only dogged defending delayed the first score for 15 minutes until Clark spun the ball wide from a ruck on the right 22 and slick hands gave Foster space and an overlap to come in from full back to ground half-way out and Brown added the extra two.
